Sarsena Comprehensive Health Post
In January 2025, we completed the construction of a five-room Comprehensive Health Post in the rural community of Sarsena, home to around 13,000 people. This brand-new facility significantly expands the range of medical services available to the area.
The Sarsena Comprehensive Health Post is staffed by six full-time qualified medical professionals, all of whom are female. This includes two nurses, one midwife, one pharmacist, one laboratory technician, and one Health Extension Worker. With this skilled team in place, the Health Post can offer enhanced maternal and child healthcare, diagnostic services, treatment for common illnesses, and improved access to essential medications.
The facility is now connected to the national power grid, has a reliable safe-water supply, and features newly constructed toilets for both staff and patients. The project was also supported by Lalibela Trust, a UK-based charity, which provided funding for essential medical equipment and furniture.
Early patient reports show that severe malnutrition and malaria are significant health concerns in the region, underlining the urgent need for this expanded healthcare access. With the Ministry of Health funding covering staff salaries, this project ensures long-term, sustainable healthcare for the Sarsena community.
