CAROLYN CRESWELL
Carolyn Creswell is the founder of Carman’s Kitchen, a proudly Australian brand that has grown from humble beginnings into a global success story. In 1992, at just 18 years old, Carolyn bought a small muesli business for $1,000. Over the past three decades, Carman’s has become a household name in Australia and is now sold in over 35 countries. In 2012, she was named the Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year.
While Carolyn is proud of Carman’s growth, she’s most passionate about using her platform to create meaningful change — especially in the lives of young women. A mother of four herself, she deeply values education as a pathway to opportunity.
In 2021, in partnership with Create Impact, Carman’s House was opened in Ethiopia. It provides a safe and supportive home for 36 girls from rural and conflict-affected regions, enabling them to complete secondary school — something only 2% of rural girls in Ethiopia are able to do.
Carman’s House offers more than shelter. The girls receive food, uniforms, mentoring, and a stable environment to focus on their studies. In 2022, the first 10 students proudly graduated Year 12 — a huge milestone — with more than half of them accepted into university! So far, Carman’s House has enabled 55 girls to finish school, with over 20 now enrolled in Universities’ across Ethiopia, completing degrees in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Nursing, Governance and Public Health!
As an ambassador for Create Impact, Carolyn is committed to shining a light on the power of education to transform lives. She believes that while we all live under the same sun, not all of us are born with the same opportunities. When we invest in education, we create lasting change — not just for individuals, but for entire communities.
