We believe access to safe water is a basic human right and are committed to ensuring it is afforded to the 61 million Ethiopians who currently live without access to safely managed drinking water.
In rural Ethiopia, women and children walk more than 3-hours to collect water, often from shallow wells or unprotected ponds they share with animals. One child dies every hour in Ethiopia from diseases associated with inadequate safe water supply, sanitation and hygiene. Our water projects provide local access to safe water sources through the construction of Spring Improvement Projects or Hand-dug Wells.
Since 2017, Create Impact has reached more than 2,000 people in Ethiopia with improved water.
In addition, at every school we work with, we are building toilets, putting in water tanks for drinking or handwashing and promoting effective hygiene practices.
